NINDS Summer Internship Program (SIP)

Due to evolving COVID-19 concerns the 2020 Summer Internship Program (SIP) at the NINDS/NIH is canceled. The NINDS/NIH priority is the health and safety of their interns and contributes to stopping the community spread of Sars-Cov2 through social distancing. The NINDS Summer Internship Program in the Neurological Sciences Exit Disclaimer Policy offers a unique opportunity for academically talented high school, undergraduate, graduate, and medical students to receive first-rate training in neuroscience research. The objective is to provide students with a highly stimulating and rewarding summer research experience, with a view towards encouraging students to pursue advanced education and training in the biomedical sciences and future careers in scientific investigation, particularly basic and clinical research in the neurological sciences.

Application Process: Prospective candidates must apply online. The application period is from mid-December to February 1. It requires submission of the following documents:

  • A curriculum vitae or resume;

  • a list of coursework and grades (a transcript is not necessary at this time);

  • a cover letter describing the applicant's research interests and career goals; and

  • the names and contact information for two references.
