Dr. Ingram received his B.A. in psychology from Louisiana State University in 1970 and then served as a health statistician with the National Center for Health Statistics. From 1974-78, he trained in psychology and gerontology at the University of Georgia, where he received a Ph.D. degree in 1978. He did postdoctoral training at the Jackson Laboratory before coming to the NIA as a staff fellow in 1980. In 1985, Dr. Ingram was promoted to Senior Investigator in the Molecular Physiology and Genetics Section within NIA. Since 2000, he has served as Chief of the Behavioral Neuroscience Section. Dr. Ingram�s research interests involve developing behavioral assays of aging in rodents and primates, with an emphasis on motor and memory performance as well as assessing pharmacological, genetic, and nutritional interventions that affect brain aging.
