Description:

A postdoctoral position in visual neuroscience is available in the Unit on Retinal Neurophysiology, National Eye Institute. Ongoing and future projects include: 1) Retinal circuits involved in the processing of the blue cone signals. 2) Synaptic alteration and regeneration of the ground squirrel retina during and after hibernation. 3) Function of Müller cells in cone photopigment regeneration. Candidates with expertise in any (or a combination) of these techniques are encouraged to apply: patch clamp recording, confocal imaging, two-photon live cell/tissue imaging, and bioengineering. Programming experience such as Igor, Metlab, or C++ is very desirable. Salary will be commensurate with level of experience according to NIH guidelines. The NIH hosts one of the largest neuroscience research centers in the world with a broad spectrum of expertise. The NEI has state-of-the-art core facilities including imaging, genetic engineering, and virus delivery facilities. The overall resources and training opportunities are superb for a postdoctoral fellow.
